Do not be afraid of death …

March 15th, 2011

When I was little, I was afraid of death because she had taken my father. And one evening, as I confided in my mother shamefully, so little time to never see her again:

Where is my father, mother? Death, the word that separates us, scares me.

And she, laughing and patting me, told me:

-Don ‘t ever be afraid! What folly, my sweet prince orchid! Lou, my love! The other day, was not happy when you came to court these travelers came from the deserts of the West? These vast lands that we know only by their stories and the beauty they bring? Have you not been dazzled when they discovered, wrapped in silks, Fashion Jewellery , weapons, vases with the contours of such purity that they all remained stunned this new perfection?

You see, death is nothing else.

On this earth we are travelers in search of beauty. When death takes us, perhaps because our eyes are worn out and useless, it leads us to the temple of all memory on the star to the rivers of ice cliffs and golden.

Frost is ice preserves.

The gold, the metal that alters nothing.

Do not think death is sad.

That day, welcomed by our predecessors, we dazzle, opening our hearts and memories, offering the beauty we’ve gathered day after day.

For there is no other reason in our lives.

The joy that you’ve done your treasure, you, finding all the ones you love, all those glorious predecessors who also had engraved golden memory for centuries, you linked to all the others so that all others can read it and love.

How could you be afraid? Who would want you evil?

You’re so precious, you, like everyone else, messenger of eternal images.

Evil is the illusion of a second.

Eternity and beauty of all life.

March 5th, 2011

An appointment Cluny museum was an opportunity to review the Renaissance masterpiece: Lady and the licorne.Donc to read the book by Tracy Chevalier.

The tapestry of the Lady and the Unicorn was rediscovered in 1841 by Prosper Merimee in Boussac Castle Basement. She enters the legend with George Sand. Today at the museum of medieval Cluny in Paris, the hanging is complete and includes six parts. Illustrate the five senses, the sixth is decorated with a motto, “my only desire.” A lady dressed in red brocade and silk seem to get rid of her jewelry, which she deposited in a box kept by the maid unless she takes them. This gesture may evoke cessation luxury to earthly passions, sensuality of love.

But this in-between the gesture leaves it ambiguous, unfinished. Is it denial or, conversely, return to the world? Fabulous animals are represented as the lion and the unicorn are banners on the arms of the sponsor, Jean Le Viste family Lyon and close to King Charles VII. The order was probably made in the Brussels workshops known at the end of the 15th Century medieval heathland pets (rabbits, birds) or exotic (monkey), creating a thousand flowers to fund a magical, out of time, with reference to Eden.

This beautiful tapestry, amazingly alive after centuries, we know little. Tracy Chevalier, an American living in London, has made a specialty of romanticize certain works which are women. The educated readers remember his “Girl with a Pearl Earring,” published in 2000. It tackles in 2003 with this “Lady and the Unicorn” (Folio, 2005) with all the qualities of the first book. Its requirement of “true” typical American, pushed her to carefully document the time and the art of weaving, she delivers the sources at the end of volume. Her feminist bias, again typically American period, led him to favor the views of women, the wife of the sponsor, his daughter and maid, wife and daughter of the weaver, pranks Women’s painter.

As we know nothing, his imagination could run amok. It is not kind to the man she calls “Nicolas”, creator of the cartoons. The son she confesses in the opening words could he inspire? She made a handsome artist but eager to fuck everything that goes into abandoning the suites. She did, however, that pure love for accomplice eagerness of young girls whose first part gives us a story carved and panting. Claude, daughter of Jean Le Viste is making sensual fever to 14 years when she thinks of Nicolas beautiful. See page 52 for more information …

The novel is divided into 5 periods over an epilogue, as the curtains. Is this intentional? Involuntary? The reader may find the view when the protagonists meet in the first part.

During the holidays and until March 13, police and gendarmerie monitor your home temporarily left vacant during the school holidays. A safety feature to prevent burglaries.

Flags isolated outskirts of Toulouse are not the only homes hit hard by the phenomenon of burglaries. A true scourge without distinction, villas, apartments and corporate offices also located downtown.

While the school holidays have barely started, the police and gendarmerie encourage tenants and landlords to be vigilant before leaving their homes vacant a few days (see below). Every day in Toulouse, fifteen houses were visited by thugs in search of any luxury item easily “salable.” The year 2010 was marked by an increase of 6% of thefts from homes in Haute-Garonne .

In Toulouse, early this year, the trend is downward. Increased police surveillance and reinforcement of security systems have been greatly. According to official figures, in January 2010, 526 events were recorded in Toulouse, against 459 in January 2011. A decrease of 13% from one year to another.

“One third of these burglaries affects the elderly,” said a policeman. Thefts by deception, these flights making himself look like a genuine agent of water or a false police to abuse the credulity or weakness of vulnerable people, experienced a sharp increase late 2010, in Toulouse. Loner in search of money, teams organized through the homeless drug addicts, the profile of burglars, often repeat offenders, is multiple. “They are all found either jewelry or money or small hi-fi systems, portable …” said one policeman. Booty immediately resold from hand to hand or through resale sites on the Internet. “There is no better time than others. Thieves operate day and night, “said a policeman. The very center of Toulouse is not spared. Faced with this onslaught, police and gendarmerie retaliate and increase the arrests in flagrante delicto. For this holiday season, the prefecture renewed, as each summer, the operation quiet holiday. “During the last holiday, the 150 people who reported their absence to police have been spared the burglaries,” says one central police station.

For the French luxury, the crisis is already over

February 28th, 2011

The luxury groups have achieved record results for 2010, and began the year 2011 with confidence. The sector is driven by demand from emerging countries, especially from Chinese millionaires

The luxury companies are euphoric. In 2010, LVMH recorded 20.3 billion euros in sales, up 19%, and net income of 3 billion euros. By comparison, the net result of Carrefour in 2009 amounted to 385 million euros, almost ten times less.

Before Christmas to avoid stockouts, Louis Vuitton had closed an hour earlier his French stores. To meet demand, the group will “increase the capacity of workshops and make more use of our subcontractors,” said the CEO, Bernard Arnault. The champagne (Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Dom Perignon), he acknowledges that, given the restart, “we will find ourselves a little short bottles.

Same scenario at the competitor Hermes, whose sales jumped 25% in 2010, reaching 2.4 billion euros there this year includes 160 recruits. In Germany, Hugo Boss has completed “the best year ever.” The Swiss watchmakers such as Tag Heuer or Breitling encounter supply problems to cope with soaring demand, despite the appreciation of the Swiss franc.

A growth rate of 9 to 11% worldwide
United States, the jeweler Tiffany feels “on track” to establish a record annual sales. The sector as a whole has a growth rate of 9 to 11% in the world after a contraction of 8 to 10% in 2009. That year, in a context of crisis, consumers spent more soberly, and department stores had significantly removed from storage.

Beyond the numbers, the luxury market benefits from favorable trends, many years. “Consumers have changed their behavior,” says Jean-Marc Bellaiche, senior associate director at consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Better informed, they make choices marked. On non-”differentiation” for them, they buy at low prices. This has enabled the development of low cost carriers and distributors discount stores. However, the categories considered more emotional and identity, they turned towards the high end. They spend a budget of more and more important. ”

A phenomenon strengthened by the increase in living standards in emerging countries, and tourism development. “The surge in major cities in Europe, Chinese and Russian tourists fueling strong growth in demand for luxury products,” says Preeti Rambhiya, equity analyst at Standard & Poors (S & P) in London.
